Greater Long Island just wrapped up a banner year.
Nearly 10 million pageviews poured into Long Island’s fastest-growing news website in 2024.
The final tally of precisely 9,894,661 pageviews on the website was good for a 49 percent jump from the 6,641,661 the site tallied in 2023.
Internally, Greater Long Island had aimed for a 43 percent jump in traffic in 2024 over 2023, which would have amounted to 9.4 million views.
“So we blew past that!” said publisher Michael White. “And we have huge plans for this new year.”
Those plans involve beefing up GLI Newsletter signups and app subscriptions to best engage our core audiences.
“And, as always, reinvesting in our editorial product, both through the website and social media,” White added. “Our goal is to become the No. 1 local and regional news resource for Long Islanders.
“We’d also like to be known as one of the best regional online news outlets in the country.”
In 2024, newsletter signups increased by 52 percent and app downloads increased by 33 percent.
GLI’s social media following also jumped by about 70,000 people.
“None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our readers and supporters,” said Nick Esposito, editorial director of GLI. “Your engagement and enthusiasm fuel our mission to deliver quality news and storytelling to Long Island.”
