A Lindenhurst man riding an electric scooter suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital after he collided with a car Saturday afternoon in Amityville, police said.
Authorities said Richard Newton, 35, was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital following his 3:30 p.m. collision with a 2007 Mazda.
Newton was riding the scooter east on Louden Avenue and went through a red light at Country Line Road when he crashed with the southbound car driven by Randall Morency, 21, of Massapequa.
Morency was taken in an ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
