Three brothers are betting big on dessert with Craveology in Centereach

|

Sweet cravings come in all forms, and Craveology is looking to answer just about all of them.

The new Centereach dessert shop at 1759 Middle Country Road opens Saturday with a menu that runs from stuffed croissants to chocolate-dipped, flavor-infused donuts to waffles loaded like full-on indulgent meals.

The shop, which replaces Swolehouse Meals, is the latest venture from three brothers who spent the last decade running a Mr. Mario Soft Serve ice cream truck in Suffolk County.

“We’ve been doing ice cream for 10 years now, so this is just the natural next step,” co-owner Bilal Inayat told Greater Long Island. “We weren’t going to start smashing burgers and frying chicken. We know desserts.”

The creative menu is the result of months of testing, tasting, and experimenting by Bilal and his brothers Daniel and Muhammad. Every waffle and crepe batter is made fresh in-house.

One of the standout items is a chopped-up Magnum bar stuffed inside a toasted croissant, topped with chocolate drizzle and cookie crumble.

“One of my favorites is the cookie crumble crepe or waffle,” said Muhammad. “Then we add in bananas, and top it with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream. It’s a 3-layer dessert.”

“We didn’t want to be your mom-and-pop ice cream shop,” Bilal added. “We wanted people to come here and have an experience, make you feel like you are in a top-of-the-line place in Manhattan. It’s all about the vibe.”

There’s also soft-serve ice cream, lattes, mojitos, shakes, and several dairy-free options.

“You can go to any bakery and get cookies or brownies,” Muhammad said. “We wanted to bring our customers something they really crave. This shop, this business, has been the dream for the three of us for as long as I can remember.”

Craveology will be open seven days a week from 2 p.m. to midnight.
