Mighty Fine opens Huntington popup amid plans for two new cafes

|

Huntington is getting an early taste of Mighty Fine.

The couple behind the upcoming Mighty Fine eatery and pie bar in Bay Shore is purchasing one of downtown Huntington’s longtime landmark buildings — the former Finley’s of Greene Street — and plans to transform it into a full all-day cafe in the new year.

But first, they’re opening the doors for a month-long holiday popup.

“We were able to get into this building just before Thanksgiving,” owner Daria Lamb told GLI this week. “So we decided to do a holiday popup for the month of December, through Dec. 31, and then do renovations in January and February.”

The timing worked out well.

Downtown Huntington is packed with foot traffic this month between the tree, the holiday market, and a full lineup of downtown weekend events. Mighty Fine is just two blocks from the tree and directly across from one of Huntington’s largest municipal parking lots.

Visitors can stop in daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with shorter hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (10 to 3).

The popup will be closed on Christmas Day.

What’s in store

Inside, guests will find lunch items like quiche and salad, a ribeye sandwich with Parmesan béchamel and house-pickled onions, and a warm chicken sandwich on a pretzel croissant.

There are warm slices of pie, gluten-free and vegan options, cookies, and a growing list of seasonal desserts.

There’s also a small selection of inexpensive Christmas gifts.

“We have good espresso from Italy and a dining room where people can sit down and relax and see our ‘before version,’” Lamb said.

Whole items are available to go, including chicken pot pies, chicken tikka masala pot pies, quiches, and whole pies.

Back to Bay Shore

Mighty Fine’s Huntington project comes as the owners continue working through the permitting process for their Bay Shore cafe at 9 Third Avenue, first reported by Greater Long Island in May of 2024.

That building is being converted from industrial and office space into a sidewalk cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, modeled after the all-day concept they are now bringing to Huntington. Lamb, who grew up near Bergen Point in West Babylon, said both projects reflect her hope to build warm, community-focused gathering spaces with scratch-made pies, biscuits, and meals.

If you go

The popup is located at 43 Green St., Huntington, and runs through Dec. 31.
