It was a series of unfortunate — and fortunately non-life-threatening — events Sunday morning in Lake Grove when an 80-year-old woman accidentally drove her SUV through multiple properties.
Suffolk County Police said the woman pulled her 2023 Honda SUV into her driveway at 63 Birch St. about 10:35 a.m. and attempted to straighten the vehicle. Thinking the car was in reverse, she hit the gas while accidentally leaving it in drive and struck her own house.
The SUV then traveled across the street after she popped it in reverse, hitting a fence and deck at 56 Birch St. But the misadventure wasn’t over.
The woman then drove forward through her yard and onto the property of 44 Washburn St., coming to rest on a covered inground pool in the back yard.
News 12 Long Island captured images of the scene.
The driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt in the incident.
No one else was injured in the collisions.
