Sayville Middle School’s eighth-grade band created a video tribute to commemorate Veterans Day and shared it with the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook.
The production features marching band arrangements of “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “God Bless America,” together with heartfelt speeches and touching artwork from members of the band.

Traditionally, Sayville Middle School has hosted a moving tribute for local veterans as part of its annual Veterans Day celebration. Veterans at other Veterans Day events in the school enjoyed a special breakfast and were treated to a musical performance by the school band and a presentation “Worthy of Their Service” in the auditorium.
The ongoing pandemic and social distancing precautions forced the school to shift gears this fall.
Band instructors Kimberly Lattanzio and Joseph Albanese led the effort.
“Veterans Day is such an important holiday to ALL Americans. Every year, we pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom by having a celebration at Sayville Middle School to honor our Veterans,” the instructors said, in a statement.
“Although, nothing can replace a live experience, the Sayville Middle School Eighth-Grade Band … wanted to share the following video tribute with every veteran at the Long Island State Veterans Home.”
