Achievements: PSEG worker from Blue Point runs to raise money at Jones Beach

Blue Point resident Patrick Hession donned his PSEG Long Island T-shirt and joined thousands of runners crossing the finish line Tuesday night at Jones Beach in the Marcum Workplace Challenge.

For the third year in a row, PSEG Long Island received awards at the event for “Greatest Participation” and the “Beneficiary Fund Challenge” for donating the most money beyond registration fees. More than 1,000 PSEGLong Island participants attended, raising more than $17,000.

Hession ran the 3.5-mile course at Jones Beach in 25:10 minutes, coming in third among his PSEG Long Island teammates. Beneficiaries of the event include the Long lsland Children’s Museum, Children’s Medical Fund of New York, Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, and the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals [SPCA].

“This is a great company with dedicated employees who care about our customers and our community,” said Dan Eichhorn, president & COO, PSEG Long Island. “Together, we raised more than $17,000 in registration and donations to support four great local charities.

“I am so proud to be a part of this organization.”

This marked PSEG Long Island’s fifth year of participation in the Marcum Challenge, which draws thousands of people from more than 200 companies across Long Island for an evening of camaraderie and fitness.

Last year, PSEG Long Island employees participated in 1,100 events supporting more than 400 charitable community organizations.
