The Lindencrest Diner — an institution for the last four decades in Lindenhurst — is closing down.
Owners of the eatery have posted a note on the front door announcing the closure and explaining why.
“It’s with a heavy heart, I have to announce that do to economic hardships the Lindencrest Diner will be closed,” reads the typewritten sign on the building, located at 330 W. Montauk Highway. “We would like to thank all our patrons and staff over the past 39 years for making this diner the success it has been.
“We will truly miss all the familiar, happy faces that made this establishment a huge part of our lives and family,” the note continued. “Once again, we are sorry, and you all will be missed.”
Ownership confirmed the closure on the restaurant’s outgoing phone message, adding “Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years.”
In recent weeks, the restaurant had been open fewer hours, closing daily at 3 p.m.
