Alec Baldwin crashes Range Rover into tree in East Hampton during nor’easter

|

Actor Alec Baldwin escaped injury Monday afternoon after crashing his white Range Rover into a tree in East Hampton as heavy rain and wind from a coastal nor’easter swept across Long Island, according to reports.

Baldwin, 67, and his brother, fellow actor Stephen Baldwin, were traveling along Montauk Highway when the vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree, leaving the SUV’s front end badly damaged. Photos from the scene showed Baldwin standing nearby in the rain, talking on his phone and looking disheveled and annoyed as first responders arrived.

No serious injuries were reported.

The Daily Mail reported that the outlet contacted representatives for Alec and Stephen Baldwin for comment, but had yet to hear back. Greater Long Island contacted the East Hampton Police Department for confirmation of the accident, but has not heard back.

The New York Post reported that the crash occurred not far from Alec Baldwin’s longtime Amagansett home, a sprawling estate that he has owned for decades and at one point listed for sale for as much as $22.5 million. The property has since served as a backdrop for filming “The Baldwins,” the family’s short-lived TLC reality series.

The Emmy Award-winning actor is reportedly in town for the Hamptons International Film Festival, which ran from Oct. 5 to Oct 13.

The accident comes amid what’s been a busy fall for the Baldwin family. Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, 41, recently took a turn on Season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars.” Earlier this year, the couple wound up their reality show, which offered an inside look at goings on inside their bustling household of seven children.

Baldwin has faced repeated public scrutiny in recent years — most notably following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of the film “Rust” in 2021. He was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter, though the charges were later dropped after a lengthy investigation.
