Too often it seems that the whales who make the news around Long Island are the ones who wash up dead or dying on the beaches.
Fortunately, a photographer on Long Island has captured the magnificence and beauty of an alive and well humpback whale. Below is drone footage of a humpback whale days ago jumping from the sea to feed on menhaden — only yards off the coast of Southampton.
The images were captured by drone photographer Joanna Steidle and posted to Storyful Viral, and then picked up by various television media outlets across the world.
