For those looking to do some spring cleaning, consider donating some clothing for a great cause.
Nonprofit Angels of Long Island is hosting a clothing drive on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the store’s parking lot at 350 East Main St. in Patchogue.
The organization was founded in 2015 with the sole purpose of helping fellow Long Islanders who have fallen on hard times.
“This one is our first one really in the last couple of years, we haven’t been able to do a big one because of Covid,” said Debbie Loesch, founder of Angels of Long Island. “This is gonna be a drive up to drop off, we’ll have a minibus parked out there — we’re looking for any type of clothing: winter, spring, summer or fall.”
Volunteers are collecting a plethora of items, including coats, sweaters, gloves, socks, jeans, pants, shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, shoes and boots.
Loesch says the more shoe donations the better, for they are in dire need of them.
Household items like blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes, curtains, and rugs will also be accepted.
All donors have to do is pull up with their car, pop the trunk and volunteers will be there to unload their offerings.
If an individual wants a write-off, receipts will be given out upon request, Loesch added.
“Right now I think everybody is struggling, and we’ve been doing a tremendous amount of outreach,” she said. “We’re hoping to kick off the spring season.”
