The Babylon Block Party dates for 2020 have been approved.
And, for the first time ever, there will be a fourth date — which is one more than last year.
The first Babylon Block Party of 2020 will happen Thursday, July 2, with the rest of the street festivals running on July 23, Aug. 6, and Aug. 20, all on Thursdays.
There’s also rain dates set for Aug. 13 and Aug. 27, two rain dates were needed last year.
This year, the series will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., instead of last year’s running time of 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Block Party, which runs up and down Deer Park Avenue onto Fire Island Avenue, consists of live music, vendors and penned off areas for restaurants to expand onto the streets.
Since its inception in Babylon Village in 2018, the Block Parties continue to grow in popularity each year.
“These events have been drawing such an amazing crowd and have been so successful for our village businesses,” said Kelly Peckholdt, head of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the block parties.
“We continue to be so grateful to Mayor Ralph Scordino and the Village Board of Trustees for approving these events and allowing us to make them bigger and better each year,” added Peckholdt. “The mayor, the trustees, code enforcement, and the highway department/sanitation also work tirelessly to ensure these events go off without a hitch.”
