Babylon Town is joining other Long Island municipalities by going digital with its Parks and Recreation guides this year.
Instead of printing and mailing the 35-page booklets to Babylon households, the Town created an online version that will save money and trees in the long haul.
Babylon Town officials estimate they will save $30,000 in postage and printing by producing 50,000 less guides this year.
However, the hardcopies aren’t going away fully just yet.
The printed version will be available at Town Hall, the Town Hall Annex, the Parks and Recreation Department Building, all Town senior centers and public libraries. And once summer begins, the guides will be found at Town beaches and pool facilities.
“Babylon’s parks and summer programs are, for many families, the number one reason to live in Babylon, so we want to make sure that every resident has access to this guide,” said Schaffer.
Martinez says the interactivity of the new online guides will have plenty of benefits.
“Our online guide is quite versatile,” he said. “Our residents can easily flip through the pages and sample the great lineup of bands we have booked for our famous Summer Concert Series, learn more about our facilities and easily register for different programs and services we offer throughout the season.”
The programs, which informs residents of upcoming activities at the local parks, can be accessed by clicking here.
