Babylon Village’s big Spring Fling is coming up this weekend.
On Saturday, June 2, Deer Park Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Main Street will be blocked off for the street fair. This year’s event, beginning at 11 a.m., will feature various food, art, music, and craft vendors, including 35 vendors that are based outside the Greater Babylon area.
And those outside sellers are picked carefully.
“As a Chamber Board we carefully select the vendors so we ensure that the products they are selling are handmade and that they don’t conflict with participating businesses in the village,” said Kelly Peckholdt of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber, which organizes the event, also will run a sidewalk chalk contest on James Street.
There will be three age categories — up to 8 years old; ages 8-13; and 14 and older. The contest starts at 11 a.m. with judging occurring at 4 p.m.
“We are looking forward to seeing some great artwork!” said Packholdt.
The sidewalk sale will also take place on Sunday, June 3, however, the streets will not be closed then.
The rain date for the event is the following weekend, June 9 and 10.
