Bartender’s tip leads to patron’s drug arrest in Hamptons nightclub

|

A 33-year-old Hampton Bays man probably didn’t expect such a bad break early Saturday when he allegedly offered a Hamptons nightclub bartender some methamphetamine.

Southampton Police arrested Yeison Gonzalez-Ocampo after receiving a report from a Beach Bar staff member about the attempted transaction at the Hampton Bays club.

The police investigation revealed that the defendant offered a quantity of methamphetamine to the bartender at 1:36 a.m., and that the defendant was still carrying the drugs when he was encountered by the investigators, police said.

Gonzalez-Ocampo is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree, police said. He was transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.

He was processed at police headquarters, then released with an appearance ticket for court at a future arraignment date.
