Bay Shore veteran lands spot on Queens World Film Festival’s big screen

|

The 11th annual Queens World Film Festival is showing 198 films from 33 nations in 11 days, and one Bay Shore man will be featured among others on the big screen.

“Walk With Frank” is a documentary film about Bay Shore resident and Vietnam veteran, Frank Romeo, and his 750-mile walk across New York State to raise awareness for veterans and post-traumatic stress disorder.

His three-month journey in the film sheds light on PTSD, suicides and the effects of other debilitating mental health issues impacting veterans in the U.S.

The Queens World Film virtual screening of the documentary is June 29 at 10 p.m.

Romeo’s story is part of the film festival’s 2021 theme of “HOPE: Healing Opportunities Promote Equity.”

“It’s all come to fruition,” he said in a previous greaterbayshore.com article. “Someone is listening to me now. Before I was an Army of one. Now I have people advocating for me.”
