Michael Bloise, 44, remembered for coaching his sons’ teams, leaves behind wife and two sons

GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $92,000

A Bellmore father and youth baseball coach is the focus of a growing community fundraising effort following his death late last month.

Michael Bloise, 44, died on Jan. 25. He is survived by his wife, Kerin, and their two sons, Vincent and Joseph.

A GoFundMe campaign created in the days after his death is raising money to help the family cover funeral expenses and manage immediate household costs.

A consummate baseball dad, Bloise was active in the local youth baseball community, coaching his sons’ teams and pouring time into volunteering at practices and games.

Friend Larry Smith said Bloise emphasized discipline and effort in his coaching.

“Mike taught them accountability, to respect the game of baseball and to give nothing less than 100% effort every play,” Smith said. “Every time ‘Bloise’ showed up on my phone, I knew it wasn’t going to be a quick conversation and I’m going to miss those talks a lot.”

As of Saturday, the fundraiser has raised nearly $92,000 from hundreds of donors.

Bloise is also survived by his mother, Judy Bloise; his sisters, Michele and Melanie; brothers-in-law Trevor, Michael and Steven; his parents-in-law, Doreen and Michael Bordes; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services were held in Bellmore in late January.
