A Riverhead woman who had been missing for nearly two weeks has been identified as the person found dead in a wooded area of Manorville earlier this month.
Kathleen Harrison Trent, 63, of Riverhead was reported missing to the Riverhead Town Police Department on Jan. 29. Authorities confirmed she is the woman whose body was discovered by police Feb. 11 in a wooded area off Connecticut Avenue, south of River Road, in Manorville.
Suffolk Police homicide detectives are investigating Trent’s death. Following a preliminary investigation, detectives said they believe the cause of death to be criminal in nature.
The official cause of death remains under investigation and will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, authorities said.
