The nationwide pop culture purveyor BoxLunch will open its first Long Island location next month.
BoxLunch is coming to the Smith Haven Mall, and will be sandwiched between Zumiez and Claire’s Boutique.
The store will have a soft opening Friday, Feb. 4, and a grand opening celebration throughout the weekend of Feb. 5-6.
The store will open its doors at 10 a.m. on Feb. 5 and at noon on Feb. 6. The first 50 guests each day will receive mystery gift cards worth up to $100, a spokesperson for the company said.
The BoxLunch representative also noted there will be a DJ, trivia games and prizes from noon-4 p.m. on both days.
Inside the store, shoppers will be able to pick from apparel, accessories, collectables and home and kitchen goods that boast their favorite pop culture characters. From Marvel to Star Wars and from Disney to Harry Potter, plus a healthy dose of anime and Nickelodeon, the store is likely to carry something for fans of any franchise.
Hot Topic Inc., which has a flagship storefront in the Smith Haven Mall, launched BoxLunch in 2015. The retailers provide similar apparel and swag. However, Hot Topic boasts walls of band tees, while BoxLunch skirts the music scene.
In addition to Hot Topic, the new retail center joins other pop culture providers in the mall, including Newbury Comics and FYE.
On Thursday, Feb. 3, from 4-8 p.m., the store with host a preview night for BoxLunch loyalty members.
According to the company’s website, BoxLunch is a civic-minded retailer that works with Feeding America. For every $10 spent on the store’s goods, the company helps provide a meal secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks. As of today, the company has donated 100 million meals.
