Budweiser’s famed clydesdales arrive in Patchogue at 5 p.m. on Oct. 10

Anheuser-Busch’s famed clydesdales will be trotting through Patchogue on Thursday, Oct. 10, delivering beer like in the olden days.

The parade is being hosted by Clare Rose — the local distributor for Anheuser-Busch, brewers of Budweiser and Bud Light.

The horses, who make an appearance nearly every year before millions watching the Super Bowl, are coming in part to mark the 85th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition, according to the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

So on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Main Street will be closed from West Avenue to Rider Avenue for the clydesdales to make their special deliveries.

The company’s new Blue Point Brewery is expected to open this fall as well.

The Chamber of Commerce will also be working on ways to help celebrate the horses’ arrival, said the chamber’s executive director, David Kennedy.

“I am going to encourage the business’s to do Prohibition-era pricing,” he told GreaterPatchogue. “Maybe they can do nickel beers for an hour or something to add to the festivities.”

Anheuser-Busch owns about 250 clydesdales, good for one of the largest herds of clydesdales horses in the world. The horses are kept at various locations in the U.S.
