Burlington opens in Islandia, taking over part of former Stop & Shop

|

Burlington is now open for business in Islandia.

Mayor Allan Dorman joined store reps earlier this month to celebrate the grand opening of the national retailer’s newest location at 1730 Veterans Memorial Highway — part of the former Stop & Shop that closed in 2022.

“This shopping center had been underutilized for years,” Dorman said. “Welcoming a national retailer like Burlington helps breathe new life into the area. It not only offers our residents a wider selection of shopping options, but also signals positive economic growth for our Village.”

The building itself has seen a major transformation since Stop & Shop shut its doors.

It’s now been subdivided to make way for multiple businesses. Tractor Supply Co. opened in another section of the building on June 28 — marking the brand’s third location in Suffolk County.

The first 100 customers over the age of 18 received $10 bonus cards at the Burlington grand opening.

The company also donated $5,000 to Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School through AdoptAClassroom.org to help cover classroom supplies.

The new 30,000-square-foot Burlington store features the company’s latest branding — “Deals. Brands. WOW!” — and a redesigned layout aimed at making shopping faster and easier, according to a press announcement.

Shoppers will find discounted apparel for men, women and kids, baby items, beauty products, home décor, toys and more.
