Car crashes into Higbie Bagels in West Islip for the second time in five years

|

Higbie Bagels has closed once again after a car crashed into the side of the building on the night of Dec. 6.

This is the second time the West Islip bagel shop at 264 Higbie Lane has been crashed into.

The first incident happened in 2015 when a man driving almost 100 mph collided into the building — which caused the bagel shop to close for three years.

The family-owned business — which has become a staple in the hamlet for over 50 years — reopened in 2018 after the first car crash.

GreaterBayShore reached out to Higbie Bagels for comment.
