Coan’s dislocated finger fix capturing the attention of YouTube and the sports world

|

Jack Coan and his middle finger are lighting up YouTube today. And for all of the right reasons.

Video clips of the Notre Dame quarterback on Saturday running to the sideline to have a trainer pull his dislocated finger back into place and then sprint immediately back onto the field and toss what turned out to be a game-winning 18-yard touchdown pass are piling up in the millions across YouTube, Twitter, ESPN, etc.

The wild scenario enabled eighth-ranked Notre Dame to avert a major upset at the hands of Toledo. Much to the chagrin and shock of the capacity crowd at the Irish’s home opener, Toledo scored 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and led 29-24 with 1:35 remaining.

Check out the video below. The story continues below.

Cone’s heroics — the Sayville High School alum marched Notre Dame 75 yards in 26 seconds — left Notre Dame up for good, 32-29. Coan completed 21 of 33 passes and threw for 239 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception returned by Toledo for a touchdown.

The Irish are now 2-0 with Coan starting under center.

Check out the highlights of their thrilling win over Toledo.
