Community remembers Farmingville mother, 28, as ‘a ray of sunshine’

|

She was the silly one in the family — “a ray of sunshine” with a fun-loving smile, a fierce love of her children and a passion for riding her motorcycle.

Brenda Ingraham, a devoted mom and an avid motorcyclist, died following a crash Sunday afternoon while riding her 2018 Kawasaki Ninja in Farmingville, police said. She was 28.

Cops said the accident occurred about 1:17 p.m. on Blue Point Road when a 2018 Ford Explorer driven by a Patchogue man collided with Ingraham’s motorcycle while the SUV was attempting a left turn onto Pinedale Avenue.

Ingraham was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Explorer, 38-year-old Thomas Biglow, was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Support for her children

The young mother’s family and friends are now rallying around her children, raising money through a GoFundMe campaign to support them and to provide the kind of good-bye they said Brenda deserves.

“Brenda was an incredible mother of two perfect children and in so many ways she was the rock for our entire family,” her cousin Koralynn Quigley wrote on the fundraising page. “Anyone who knew Brenda knew what a ray of sunshine she was … we’ll carry her in our hearts always.”

An alumna of Westhampton Beach High School who previously lived in East Moriches, Ingraham is remembered for her strength, warmth and joy. The GoFundMe campaign had raised over $6,000 from nearly 100 contributions as of Monday morning.
