After closing last fall and remaining quiet on social media, the team at Culture Fine Foods and Cocktails has a new concept in the works.
Owner Patrick Mack operated Culture Fine Food and Cocktails in the old Don Ricardo’s space in Babylon from the start of 2020 to November of last year. This year he submitted a proposal in April to Babylon Village to reopen the space at 94 East Main St. as a brunch spot called “Macks.”
According to the application, the restaurant would be similar to Toast in Bay Shore and Jam in Massapequa, where the focus would be on breakfast and lunch.
At a public hearing with the Board of Trustees on May 24, Mack stated the brunch spot would be open seven days a week, from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
Mack said he also wants to cater private parties for special occasions, such as birthdays, showers and corporate events, after normal business hours.
These events would be scheduled between 6-11 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and 6 p.m.-1 a.m., Friday to Saturday.
Dinner would not be served unless it was for a private catered event, the owner said.
Seating would remain the same as in the previous two-story restaurant, with 48 seats on each floor and nine seats at the bar on the first floor.
Music would be limited to a jukebox or acoustic music only.
The Village Trustees present at the meeting resolved to reserve a decision on the proposal.
