Services scheduled for slain CVS employee Edeedson ‘Eddy’ Ciné, 23

|

Funeral services are now set for Edeedson “Eddy” Ciné, the 23-year-old CVS employee who was fatally stabbed during a robbery while at work Christmas night in Lindenhurst.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Ave. in Deer Park. A burial ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 9, at Pinelawn Memorial Park on Wellwood Avenue in Farmingdale.

Ciné, a West Babylon resident and a 2020 graduate of North Babylon High School, was working behind the counter at the CVS store on East Montauk Highway on Thursday when he was attacked, police said. Ciné’s family members have said he had been called in at the last minute to cover a shift after another employee called out.

Suffolk Police said the attack occurred shortly before 7 p.m. and came after Ciné refused to comply with Pilaccio’s demands for money.

Cops found Ciné bleeding from being stabbed in the chest; he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

Lindenhurst resident John Pilaccio, 43, was arrested the next day and charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors said Pilaccio admitted to authorities that his actionas were motivated by debt.

He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. He is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, New Year’s Eve.
