Two longtime friends and business partners are looking to bring a taste of Nashville, Tenn., to the people of Suffolk County.
Specifically in Patchogue, where owners Brian Adams and Tim McCarthy took over the former Hoptron Brewtique craft beer bar last month.
They are still operating as Hoptron. That is, until work is ready to start on the new Daisy Dukes Country Club later this fall.
“It’s gonna be a Nashville-style, country/rock type of place, honky tonkish with a little live music, country music, with music videos all over the place,” Adams told GreaterPatchogue on Wednesday.
For anyone familiar with Nashville, the owners envision Daisy Dukes as being a cross between Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and Luke Bryan’s.
“It’ll be a good time,” Adams said, explaining the name — an ode to the women’s short jean shorts — was chosen to convey a country vibe.
“We thought it was kind of fun, country and cute,” Adams said. “We just wanted something that told you it was country — without it being called Johnny Cash’s Bar & Grill.”
There will also be a smallish menu at the bar and restaurant.
The plan is to close for about two weeks to redecorate and create some more dining and lounge areas, as well as build a stage for the acts — with space for two-stepping.
The bar, already rustic in style, will close for about two weeks and reopen as Daisy Dukes sometime in November, the owners hope.
The partners had been looking across Suffolk to launch their new concept, eventually zeroing in on Patchogue’s Main Street as the ideal spot.
“We think a lot of young people like this kind of music. It’s a good demographic, it’s a good, well-behaved crowd,” Adams said. “There’s everything already here [in Patchogue]. The only thing that isn’t here is country music.
So that’s what they’re bringing.
“This is going to be a fun place,” Adams said.
