Suffolk detectives believe the truck that struck and killed a Manorville man in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night was likely a Dodge Ram.
Suffolk police confirmed Tuesday the department’s Major Case Unit said the vehicle that struck 54-year-old Michael Barnhardt was a 2009 to 2018 Dodge Ram pickup, possibly maroon or red in color. The truck is expected to have front-end damage consistent with the crash.
Investigators also released a photo of a similar model to help the public identify it.
Barnhardt was fatally struck about 8:33 p.m. while crossing County Road 111 in Manorville, just north of Chapman Boulevard near the Better Burger food truck. The driver fled northbound, police said.
Barnhardt was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen a damaged Dodge Ram in the area or has information about the driver to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS. All calls remain anonymous.
