It’s official — Dirty Taco & Tequila is coming to the North Shore.
The restaurant’s co-owner Tom Cataldo Jr. announced on Facebook that his team will be turning the old The Greene Turtle location in Smithtown into the company’s fifth Dirty Taco.
“We would like to thank everyone who’s been by our side supporting and loving our food and culture,” he wrote.
The family-owned restaurant is the brainchild of Cataldo Jr. During his college days in Arizona, he spent many night in Los Angeles, falling deeper and deeper in love with tacos.
Cataldo Jr. and his family would go on to open Dirty Tacos in Wantagh, Rockville Centre, Woodbury and most recently in Patchogue.
GreaterPatchogue was on the scene for the Patchogue location opening this March. In the report, the owners said they had their eyes on the Smithtown and Commack area as they expand.
The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, located at 716 Smithtown Bypass, closed its doors for good in September; it had opened back in 2017.
Cataldo Jr. said he’s aiming for a mid-2023 launch in Smithtown.
