A driver suffered a medical emergency Tuesday afternoon before crashing his vehicle into a playground in Westhampton Beach, police said.
Southampton Town Police said officers responded about 2:10 p.m. to the park at 700 Stewart Ave. after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck the playground area.
The Westhampton Beach Fire Department and Westhampton Beach EMS also responded. First responders determined the man behind the wheel had suffered a medical episode. He was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment, police said.
The playground was empty at the time of the crash. Authorities said no one else was injured.
Southampton Town Parks and Recreation officials closed off the area until repairs can be made.
