An East Massapequa man was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday night after his e-bike struck a car at a North Amityville intersection, police said.
Matthew Axmacher, 41, was riding his e-bike east on West Oak Street when he struck the driver’s side of a 2007 Honda Civic traveling north on County Line Road about 8:20 p.m., police said.
The Honda’s driver, James Lee Kelly, 39, of North Amityville, was passing through a green light at the intersection when the e-bike hit him, authorities said. Kelly was not injured.
Axmacher was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
