The baby run good streak just may be for real.
Father-to-be Zachary Fischer of East Northport scored the biggest win of his poker career by taking down the $1,700 Main Event at the World Series of Poker Circuit stop at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina.
Fischer, 30, topped a field of 1,437 players to claim his first WSOP Circuit ring and the first-place prize of $324,135. The victory also came with a $5,000 package to WSOP Paradise in The Bahamas this December.
“I’ve been playing for a really long time and really chasing a ring. This is my first major win,” Fischer said, following his big win in North Carolina last week. “I just got married and I’m having a kid soon, so the baby run good is real.”
“Baby run good” is what many poker players refer to as a streak of success that coincides with new parenthood.
Three prior second-place finishes
Fischer has played poker for a decade and has competed professionally for four years. He had previously finished in second place at three WSOP Circuit ring events.
With the six-figure payday, Fischer’s live recorded earnings now exceed $1 million.
