Bayport United Methodist Church is back on the beach for Easter this year.
A year after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the church to virtually conduct its traditional Easter Sunrise service at Corey Beach in a Zoom event, the church returns to the beach this Sunday.
The one-hour service that will “celebrate the resurrection of Jesus” starts at 6:30 a.m.
“We’re back at Corey Beach this year!” read a statement from the Middle Road church. “Bring a chair and dress warmly.”
The traditional service by the bay was held virtually last year due to the heightened safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A recording of the event is posted on YouTube.
“There is no greater or more holy day for Christians than that of Easter,” the church said in its statement.
Participants must remain masked. Bring a chair and arrive early. The event is limited to a maximum of 100 people.
