You may not be able to sing like Ed Sheeran, but you can eat like him.
The global superstar spent Tuesday night at Osteria Umbra in Smithtown, enjoying dinner at the popular Italian restaurant ahead of two shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this weekend.
Sheeran stopped by the Terry Road restaurant, where he ordered a mix of dishes and sampled some of Osteria Umbra’s other favorites.
The restaurant shared photos from Sheeran’s visit on Instagram Wednesday.
“It was a pleasure welcoming Ed Sheeran to our restaurant yesterday and sharing a little taste of Umbrian hospitality with him,” the restaurant wrote. “Moments like this make what we do even more memorable.”
It didn’t take long for Long Islanders to react to the surprise celebrity sighting on Greater Long Island’s Facebook page.
“Wow we love that restaurant …. sooooo cooool,” Yvette Malavet-Blum wrote.
Nancy Alessandro Stellmann joked, “Ed was in my neighborhood and didn’t call me???”
Osteria Umbra told Greater Long Island that while it couldn’t reveal exactly what the four-time Grammy Award winner ordered, the restaurant sent out several additional favorites for him to try.
And one dish apparently stood above the rest.
Sheeran’s favorite, the restaurant said, was its Italian cheesecake, topped with blueberry compote.
“Thank you for spending the evening with us,” Osteria Umbra said.
