Fire Island Ferries to increase fare rates

Fire Island Ferries, Inc. — the ferry service out of Bay Shore Marina — recently announced a rise in all ferry, freight, and water taxi fares beginning June 25.

The service includes trips between Bay Shore and the following areas in Fire Island: Kismet, Saltaire, Fair Harbor, Dunewood, Atlantique, Ocean Beach, Seaview and Ocean Bay Park.

An adult one-way passenger ticket will increase from $11 to $13; a $21 adult round-trip ticket will now be $25.

The other rate increases for summer 2022 are as follows, according to the Fire Island Ferries website:

  • Adult 40-trip book increased from $330 to $442.
  • One-way senior, military, and handicapped tickets increased from $10 to $12.
  • One-way child ticket increased from $6 to $7.
  • Round-trip child ticket increased from $11 to $13.
  • Child 40-trip book increased from $165 to $221.
  • Worker 40-trip book is now $350.

In addition to the ferry, water taxi cross-bay fares are higher too. They are set as the following:

In-Season Crossbay

  • Before 9 p.m. is $200 for the first six fares/reservations and $17.50 each additional fare/reservation.
    • The original price was $190 for the first six fares/reservations and $15 for each additional.
  • After 9 p.m. is $235 for the first six fares/reservations and $17.50 each additional fare/reservation.
    • The former rates for after 9 p.m. were $225 and $15 for each additional fare.

Off-Season Crossbay

  • Before 9 p.m. is $250 for the first six fares/reservations and $17.50 each additional fare/reservation.
    • Previously listed as $195 for the first six fares/reservations and $15 for each additional fare/reservation.
  • After 9 p.m. is $275 for the first six fares/reservations and $17.50 each additional fare/reservation.
