A Patchogue business used its grand opening Thursday to help raise money to help the ailing Great South Bay.
Fishbat, an online marketing firm, celebrated its new digs at 76 West Main Street above the soon-to-be Local Burger Co. and Buttermilk’s Kitchen with a block party.
Part of the day was to showcase the brand-new offices, which house about 15 employees.
And there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony that attracted locally elected officials, business leaders and patrons welcoming the big move from down the street at 82 East Main Street above Best Meal Chinese. (Fishbat also has another office in Manhattan.)
“You bring an energy and we much appreciate you being here” said Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri said to the Fishbat ownership team.
The other big part of the day was to raise money to for the nonprofit Save the Great South Bay group.
“There is a ton of problems with the bay,” said Fishbat owner Clay Darrohn, a Sayville native.
The “Soiree for the Bay” event on Railroad Avenue included free food, refreshments, and a local band.
It’s an effort, Darrohn says, he will continue as he stays in Patchogue.
“We believe that by doing events like this we can really make an impact,” he said.
