Tex’s Chicken & Burgers is continuing its march across Long Island with an East Patchogue location.
The halal Southern-style chain has just moved into the drive-thru space on East Main Street that once housed Checkers and, more recently, Burrito Mariachi.
Burrito Mariachi closed in January 2025 after a three-year run, according to prior GLI reporting.
The Tex’s chain last opened a Suffolk location in July at 425 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, which was preceded by openings in East Islip and Selden, each in former Boston Market spots.
Originally founded in The Bronx, Tex’s has expanded to more than 40 locations across New York City, Albany, Philadelphia — and now a growing list of Long Island towns, including Levittown, Hicksville and Centereach. The brand’s continued push east brings it deeper into Suffolk County as it looks to mirror the momentum it found in dense urban neighborhoods.
Tex’s is known for its crispy fried chicken, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, double cheeseburgers, wings, tenders, and loaded fries.
The stores, formerly known as Texas Chicken and Burgers before a rebrand, also serve milkshakes, mac and cheese, and a variety of combo meals. Tap here for the full menu.
