Update: According to reports, safety Chris Cooper was inactive for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers due to a coach’s decision. While he was promoted from the practice squad he has yet to suit up for an NFL game.

Stony Brook University’s Chris Cooper became the latest alum to join an NFL active roster.
On Friday, the Atlanta Falcons promoted the safety from the practice squad. He will be suited up this Sunday versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m.
He joins fellow alums Will Tye (2015), Victor Ochi (2016) and Timon Parris (2018) to reach this feat.
During the preseason, the 5-foot-10, 202-pounder impressed, making 14 total tackles in the five games.
The 5-foot-10, 202-pounder, who signed a two-year deal with the Falcons this season, quickly took to Twitter to celebrate.
Graduating from SBU in 2017, the Mount Vernon, N.Y. native drew NFL interest after totaling 127 total tackles and four interceptions in three seasons.
After going undrafted, Cooper spent last season with Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. This season he spent the last 16 weeks on the Falcons practice team before the promotion.
