Patchogue’s new Afghan cuisine restaurant is holding its grand opening event this Friday, offering a special discount on all food orders.
Mazza Mediterranean, located at 58D South Ocean Ave., debuted in October inside a 1,600-square foot space previously occupied by Colosso Di Rodi Greek Bistro. On Friday, Feb. 9, the new eatery will offer diners 20% of their bills, from noon until closing time at 10 p.m.
Mazza is owned by the Omar family from Farmingville. Wais Omar and his wife Zarlasht are the chefs, while their son and daughter, Samir and Sahba, head up the business end of the restaurant.
While the new place has introduced a menu that is replete with Afghan items and “is 100 percent halal,” the kitchen retained some elements of the previous tenant, including a few popular Greek dishes.
Mazza is open from noon to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
