Greaterpatchogue.com is getting a makeover.
The “new” greaterpatchogue.com will be unveiled within the coming weeks.
Rainmaker Media Solutions of Bay Shore is in the process of redesigning and rebuilding the entire Greater Patchogue site from the top-down.
“Rainmaker Media is proud to participate in the updating of greaterpatchogue.com,” said Rick Mescallado, Rainmaker’s chief operating officer. “Our design team is diligently working to provide readers with an intuitive, easy-to-navigate experience.”
Among other features, the new greaterpatchogue.com will offer drastically improved typography for easier reading on any device, larger page break buttons to better scroll through multi-page posts and slide shows, and larger staging options for video features.
Leaderboard ads will also appear much larger on mobile devices.
“What I like most about the new website is it has the same look and feel of greaterpatchogue.com; there’s nothing jarring or drastic to upset anyone — which often happens when news outlets undergo a redesign,” said Michael White, greaterpatchogue.com’s editor and publisher.
“It will be the same product, only easier to read and navigate,” White said.
Sister site greaterbayshore.com will remain largely the same in appearance, and both sites will be connected to a portal site called greaterlongisland.com. However both will be accessible by visiting greaterpatchogue.com or greaterbayshore.com directly in a browser.
GreaterPatchogue.com seeks to be the premier community information resource for the Patchogue-Medford, South Country and Bayport-Blue Point areas. The site launched in July 2015, and in its first full year (2016) was viewed well over 1 million times.
“As fellow Long Islanders, it is our pleasure to work with Michael White in providing Long Islanders with the latest news and community updates in a fresh new format,” said Mescallado. “The new presentation will connect users to everything they need to stay informed of the latest happenings and best deals to their favorite locations.”
