These are the top 10 Middle Schools in Suffolk County, per U.S. News

Two Suffolk County middle schools are among New York’s top 100, according to the latest rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

Gelinas Junior High School in Setauket and Cold Spring Harbor High School, which includes middle school grades, ranked Nos. 49 and 68 in the state, respectively, in U.S. News’ 2025 Best Elementary and Best Middle Schools study. Gelinas is one of two middle schools in the Three Village school district that placed among the 10 highest-ranked in the county.

Half Hollow Hills also has two schools among the county’s top 10, according to the report, which relies on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.

U.S. News analyzes state assessments to compute the percentage of students reaching proficiency or higher in mathematics and reading/language arts. Its study also takes into account such factors as student demographics and performance in key academic subjects.

Below is a list of the top 10 middle schools in Suffolk, according to U.S. News.

No. 1 Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School
