Here’s where to get the viral cookie croissant on Long Island

The viral cookie croissant, or crookie, sweeping the world has made its way to Long Island.

Beginning in Paris, it’s a golden flakey pastry sliced open then baked with cookie dough. The result:

Here are some where you can find this delicious treat on the island, though we’re sure there’s more (and more coming).

Torte Jeff (Port Jefferson)

Since the beginning of March, Torte Jeff has been slinging crookies daily, from Thursday to Sunday.

“They’re crazy popular,” Torte Jeff owner Lisa Harris told GLI, noting they sell out very quickly.

She said they are served hot every day at 10 a.m., and on weekends, after the first batch sells out, they make another batch around noon.

Torte Jeff serves a salted chocolate chunk crookie and typically offers a special flavor on weekends, such as PB&J, sprinkle, and plain chocolate chunk.

(Pro tip: The weekends are the best chance to get them because that’s when they bake the most.)

The Whisky Bakery (Smithtown)

The Whisk Bakery is another bake shop having trouble keeping up with demand.

Over Instagram Messenger, the bakery stated that their crookies are made every day they’re open (Tuesday to Sunday), and they sell out quickly. “They have been selling out like crazy,” they said.

While the crookies are made daily, it’s recommended to order them ahead of time, the Instagram admin mentioned in a comment.

Flourbud Bakery (East Moriches)

These might be the hardest to get your hands on. The popular bakery in East Moriches has the viral crookie in store, until sold out, on a week by week basis.

Leading into this week, Flourbud put a preorder link on their Instagram page for them, where patrons could pick them up the following weekend.

Last Sunday, the South Shore bakery teamed up with the sisters at For Goodness Cakes to offer a Rainbow Cookie Stuffed Chocolate Croissant. Check it below.

(Pro tip: Make sure to check their Insta daily.)

Fiorello Dolce (Huntington)

Gerard Fioravanti, chef and owner of Fiorello Dolce in Huntington, has caught cookie croissant fever.

“I saw everyone on social media talking about it and wanted to try to put our own spin on it,” he said.

His creation: Le Cookie Croissant. It’s crafted from specially rolled and formed in-house made croissant dough. The dough is stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough and chunks of dark, Belgian chocolate.

Then the top of the croissant gets more cookie dough so that the end product, which is baked once (unlike some others that have a two-step baking process), is decadently gooey and chocolatey on the inside and crispy on the outside.

Baked daily and available while supplies last (they go fast and sell out every day!).

Buttercooky (Manhasset, Floral Park, Huntington)

While the crookie may now be trending across TikTok and Instagram, it has been the viennoiserie darling of Buttercooky Bakery for at least the past six months, the owners said.

They have refined the recipe in recent months.

“We are committed to the classics, always made with the very best butter, flour, and chocolate, but we are passionate about creating variations that speak to our customers and community,” said Ben Borgognone Jr., son of the founder of the iconic bakery.

Borgognone Jr. mentioned that all three of his locations make crookies two or three times a day. “It has literally blown up, and we cannot keep them on the shelves!” he said.

They bake up their flaky and buttery croissants, split them, add a layer of their house-made chocolate chip cookie dough and a sprinkling of sea salt, place the top of the croissant back on, add a final layer of cookie dough, and the best dark chocolate chips. They go into the oven and emerge soft and chewy on the inside and crispy and dreamy on the outside.

The Buttercooky team informed GLI that they’re working on new variations that they plan to roll out for summer, so stay tuned for more deliciousness to come.

This was the original concept Buttercookys came up with before all the crookie hype hit the main stream media.
