Japanese retailer UNIQLO opens at Green Acres and Walt Whitman malls

|

Valley Stream and Huntington are each getting a UNIQLO location starting Friday as the popular Japanese retailer continues to build its presence up and down the East Coast.

The new stores will carry UNIQLO’s full line of apparel, called LifeWear. There are also special deals being offered and Japanese-inspired festivities planned for the entire opening weekend, Oct. 20 to Oct. 22.

“We are incredibly excited to open two new stores in Long Island and expand our presence in New York, a place we have called home since 2006,” said UNIQLO USA CEO Yoshihide Shindo. “Our aim is to help make everyday life better through high-quality, essential clothing that is designed for anyone, anywhere.”

The Green Acres store measures nearly 10,000 square feet, with the Walt Whitman store not far behind at 9,000 square feet, and both will be near each mall’s respective Macy’s. There’s also a UNIQLO location up and running at Roosevelt Field, with six more locations in the boroughs.

One had opened at the Smith Haven Mall it Lake Grove in 2013, but was later closed.
