Joann store in Bohemia, which would have been LI’s last, is closing

|

For those who were holding out hope the new Joann store in Bohemia would be staying open as part of the retail chain’s second bankruptcy filing in less than a year, those hopes have been dashed.

It’s officially closing, too, along with the Joann stores in Westbury and West Babylon, which was announced Feb. 12.

The store send alerts to Bohemia customers today that everything must go.

In the meantime, take 40 percent off everything, storewide, with some exceptions, the alert reads.

Founded in 1943, the company formerly known as Joann’s Fabrics first filed for bankruptcy last March, before going private that month. In January, it filed again for Chapter 11 protection.

As part of its ongoing Chapter 11 process, Joann filed a motion earlier this motnh seeking court authority to begin closing more than 500 of its some 800 stores across the nation. But now it’s being reported that all stores are closing.

The West Babylon store is located in the Great South Bay Shopping Center, 735 Montauk Highway. Joann in Westbury is at 580 Old Country Road.

An employee at the West Babylon location said workers haven’t been informed about a date when the store will close.

In 2023, Joann closed stores in Holbrook and Centereach, before opening its Bohemia location.

Comings, goings …
