Justin Timberlake’s driver’s license was suspended in New York state today following a virtual court appearance in Sag Harbor.
The 43-year-old pop star, appearing via a video conference call from Antwerp, Belgium, faced charges related to driving while intoxicated, according to an NBC News report. The hearing addressed Timberlake’s refusal to take a breathalyzer test on June 18 after being pulled over in the Hamptons.
Sag Harbor Justice Carl Irace criticized Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., for making “irresponsible” comments during a previous hearing, warning that such remarks could unfairly influence the case, according to the report. The judge threatened to issue a gag order if Burke continues making similar statements.

After leaving The American Hotel restaurant, Timberlake was stopped in a gray BMW with Florida plates about 12:15 a.m. near Madison Street and Middle Line Highway. The arrest followed his failure to obey a stop sign and remain on the right side of the road, according to the criminal complaint. Police reported that Timberlake appeared visibly impaired, contradicting his claim of having had “just one martini.”
The next conference is set for Aug. 9, which Timberlake is not required to appear for, NBC News reported. Another hearing will take place on Sept. 13, where the entertainer may be required to attend.
