Kellenberg HS keeping students home during Trump rally across the street

|

Already rattled this week by three consecutive days of bomb threats, Kellenberg Memorial High School has canceled events this Wednesday and will shift to remote learning that day due to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign event across the street at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, according to a Newsday report.

The Uniondale school received three separate threats made in anonymous text messages, according to an email sent to parents. The third threat came in just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, during the school’s eighth period, Kellenberg Principal Brother Kenneth Hoagland said in an email to parents, according to multiple reports.

The threats on Tuesday and Wednesday were texted before classes began. In all three cases, police searched the school and reported that the threat was unfounded.

The former president’s campaign announced this week that he will deliver remarks at a rally inside the coliseum at 7 p.m. At the time of publication of this story, Kellenberg officials had not yet responded to a request for comment.
