Port Jefferson Station’s L.I. Pour House is getting a Southern-inspired shakeup.
Owner Anthony Pallino, who founded the Pour House with its unique pour-your-own-beer system in 2014, announced he is rebuilding his restaurant space at 650 Route 112 into Mr. P’s Southern Skillet.
The idea for the changeup came after Pallino began checking out different restaurants down in Tennessee.
“Over the last couple of months, I’ve visited Nashville a few times,” said Pallino, who lives in Port Jefferson. “The downtown vibe is great there, and I want to bring it to Long Island.”
To help with the transition, the 33-year-old has recruited a new chef that lived in North Carolina, who Pallino says will cook “comfort food with a classy twist.”
The menu will include items such as jambalaya, fried steak, shrimp and grits, and chicken and waffles. Another big change for the restaurant will be its live entertainment every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“I don’t know any venue that really does live music on the North Shore,” said Pallino, who is currently building a stage at Mr. P’s. The L.I. Pour House will officially close on Dec. 31 with the new restaurant hosting a soft opening Saturday, Jan. 5.
Later in January, there will be a grand-opening ceremony.
