Lindenhurst man arrested, charged with murder in CVS stabbing death

|

Suffolk Police arrested a Lindenhurst man on Friday for the fatal Christmas night stabbing of a 23-year-old store employee at a CVS in Lindenhurst.

John Pilaccio, 43, of Lindenhurst is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Edeedson “Eddy” Ciné Jr., police said. Ciné (pictured above) was working a holiday shift at the CVS at 20 E. Montauk Highway when he was killed, according to authorities.

Pilaccio, who lives a half-mile away from the CVS, is being held overnight at the Suffolk County Police’s Third Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The Friday arrest came hours after Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina publicly criticized CVS corporate for delaying the release of store surveillance video, which police said hampered the early stages of the homicide investigation. Catalina said at the time that an arrest was imminent.

Police said Ciné was inside the store Thursday night when he was stabbed in the chest. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

Ciné’s brother posted a heartfelt series of photos and video clips of his brother on Instagram, one with the message that read he “Died tryna help someone else.”
