Travelers in Lindenhurst on Friday are advised to avoid using a number of major roadways during the Babylon Town’s 17th annual Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride.
Portions of Sunrise Highway, Hoffman Avenue, Route 110, Montauk Highway, Wellwood Avenue, East Neck Road and the Robert Moses Causeway will close during the event, which lasts from 9:30 a.m. until about 12:30 p.m. Rolling road closures will occur during those hours, Suffolk Police confirmed.
The ride will begin at Babylon Town Hall on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst. Over the years, the event has helped raise over $1.5 million for injured military veterans.

Riding alongside injured veterans, participants are able to connect and share in camaraderie along the 25-mile route.
This year’s event has so far raised nearly $100,000. Nearly100 individuals have signed up for the event, with 74 teams created.
Anthony Riccio has raised the most funds, $7,428, among the participants. Mahoney’s Platoon has raised the most in donations, $8,183, among the teams.
