Lindenhurst’s Jeremy Ruckert grabs first NFL pass for the NY Jets

|

Lindenhurst’s Jeremy Ruckert made his first regular season NFL catch on Sunday — in what happened to be the last week of the season for his New York Jets.

Ruckert caught an 8-yard pass from veteran quarterback Joe Flacco in the Jets’ 11-6 loss to the Dolphins, who are moving onto the playoffs. The Jets are not.

Watch the catch below.

Going into the game, Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke specifically of the Long Island talent, who hasn’t seen much playing time in his rookie season.

“I know he didn’t have a lot of action this year …” Saleh said. [But] what you see is an uber-athletic young man. And if he can put together a really good off-season I think people will see a damn good tight end. Not just a good one, but a really, really good tight end. He’s got a really good chance.”

Watch the full statement here.

The Jets drafted the 22-year-old in the third round out of Ohio State.

He was limited this offseason due to injury. In the preseason, he did score a touchdown. Click here to see that.
